Metro Approves New Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Goals for Fiscal Year 2008

Metro’s Board of Directors today approved a new Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) goal of 25 percent for fiscal year 2008, up from 16 percent last year.

The new adopted goal follows the Federal Transit Administration’s annual DBE goal requirements for federally funded contracts and requires that one-quarter of Metro’s contracts be awarded to minority-owned businesses.

This new goal supports Metro’s commitment to give equal participation to minority and women-owned and controlled businesses in Metro’s federally-assisted contracts. Under the goal, 23 percent of contracts are to be race conscious and two percent and race neutral.

Metro hosted a public comment period about the proposed goal that started on May 25 and ended with a public meeting on July 9.
