Residents Wishing to Pay Their Respects to Effi Barry Can Take Advantage of the Late Metrorail Closing Time

The Metrorail system will stay open until 2 a.m. on Friday morning to accommodate the large crowds expected to attend Thursday’s college football game between the University of Maryland Terrapins and the West Virginia Mountaineers at College Park, Md.

Metro will have additional personnel at the College Park Metrorail station on the Green Line and if necessary, will have several additional trains ready to enter service depending on the size of the crowds after the game.

The 2 a.m. late closing will also allow for the region to pay their respects to the former first lady of Washington, D.C. Effi Barry. Ms. Barry will lay in repose at the Wilson Building until midnight on Thursday. The closest Metrorail stations to the District’s Government Building are Metro Center on the Red, Blue and Orange lines and Federal Triangle on the Blue and Orange lines.
