Metro to operate holiday service on Columbus Day

Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess will operate on special schedules and parking will be free at Metrorail parking facilities on Columbus Day, Monday, October 8.

On Monday, October 8, the Metrorail system will operate on a modified Saturday schedule opening at 5 a.m., and closing at midnight. Metrobus and MetroAccess service will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Regular weekday rates will apply on Metrobus and MetroAccess.

Last year, Metro’s Board of Directors approved operating regular weekday service on Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day due to higher than usual ridership on those federal holidays. However, experience during the year did not support operating weekday Metrorail service, due to low ridership, so this year the rail system will operate on a modified Saturday schedule.

For more information on Metrorail and Metrobus, customers are encouraged to call (202) 637-7000, TTY (202) 638-3780.
