Track Fire at Judiciary Square Causes Major Delays on the Red Line

Service on Metro’s Red Line was halted for 17 minutes this afternoon after a debris fire was reported on the track at the Judiciary Square Metrorail station. Red Line riders can expect residual delays through 5 p.m.

Service on the Red Line was halted at 3:31 p.m., due to a report of a debris fire on the track in the tunnel, just outside the Judiciary Square Metrorail station. The small fire was extinguished by Metro personnel. The District of Columbia Fire Department responded and conducted a visual inspection of the tracks. By 3:48 p.m., all trains were moving once again on the Red Line.
