Metro Kicks It Into High Gear As It Prepares For Sunday's 2007 MLS Soccer Championship

This Sunday (11/15), RFK Stadium hosts the 2007 Major League Soccer Championship match between the New England Revolution and the Houston Dynamo at noon. With large crowds expected to attend, Metro will have a leg-up on the competition by providing extra trains and rail cars for spectators attending the championship match.

Leading up to the game, Metro will operate six-car trains on the Blue and Orange lines, and each train will operate every seven minutes in the downtown core, and every 15 minutes from the end of each rail line. Prior to the game, additional trains will be deployed if necessary on the Blue and Orange lines depending on the size of the crowds.

Patrons attending the game should use the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station on the Blue and Orange lines. The entrance closest to the stadium is located at 19th Street and Independence Avenue, S.E. The second entrance is two blocks away at 19th Street between C and Burke Streets, S.E. Riders should use both entrances after the game.

After the game, Metro will deploy additional trains, including eight-car trains, if necessary, to clear the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station platform. Metro will have additional station managers, rail supervisors, and Transit Police at the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station to assist customers with service questions, and directions how to get to and from the stadium.
