Metro and DDOT to Host Public Meetings for Metrobus 30s and M6 Lines

Metro and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will jointly host two public meetings about the 30s and M6 Metrobus Lines study on December 6 and 10.

The Thursday, Dec. 6, meeting will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, 4201 Albermarle St., NW. The second meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2800 Pennsylvania Ave., SE. Both meetings will have an open house from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

The meetings will focus on customers’ review and feedback on options to improve service on Metrobus routes 30, 32, 34, 35, 36 and M6. The draft improvement options were developed from responses to a June 2007 rider survey, input from public meetings in July and October and additional technical analyses conducted by the study staff.

The current 30s bus line service – which runs generally along Pennsylvania Avenue from Naylor Road and Southern Avenue Metro Stations to the Foggy Bottom area and along Wisconsin Avenue from Georgetown to Friendship Heights – has the highest ridership of any line in the Metrobus system. The study is looking for ways to diminish the effects of traffic delays, crowding, detours, safety issues and other problems common among large urban bus systems.
