Georgia Ave-Petworth Metrorail station elevator to be closed temporarily

Shuttle bus service will be available during three-month project

The elevator at the Georgia Ave-Petworth Metrorail station will close for three months beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 19, because of a construction project at the station.

Free shuttle bus service will be available every 10 minutes to take passengers to the Columbia Heights Metrorail station. Metrorail riders who normally enter or exit at the Georgia Ave-Petworth Metrorail station and are unable to use the escalator can catch the shuttle bus at a bus stop on New Hampshire Avenue at the east entrance of the station.

The shuttle bus service is being provided by Para-Med Transportation Services and passengers needing a ride can call 800-527-0005.
