Metrobus service changes in the District of Columbia begin December 30

Service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 13 lines in the District of Columbia beginning December 30. The changes are in response to customer requests and will improve service reliability.

W2, W3 Southeast Community Hospital-Anacostia Line
Buses will be rerouted to serve the Town Hall Education Arts and Recreation Campus (THEARC) at 1901 Mississippi Avenue, SE. Westbound buses (going toward Washington Overlook) will follow the regular route to Trenton Place and 19th Street, SE, then turn right on 19th Street, left on Mississippi Avenue, left on Southern Avenue to 22nd Street and continue the regular route. Eastbound buses (going toward Greater Southeast Community Hospital) will follow the regular route to Southern Avenue and 22nd Street, SE, continue Southern Avenue, turn right on Mississippi Avenue, right on 19th Street, left on Savannah Street and continue the regular route. Bus times will not change.

60, 64 Fort Totten-Petworth Line
Weekday, Saturday and Sunday trip times will be adjusted to coordinate service with Metrobus routes 62, 66 and 68.

62 Takoma-Petworth Line
Weekday trip times will be adjusted to coordinate service with Metrobus routes 64, 66 and 68.

66, 68 Petworth-11th Street Line
Trip times will be adjusted to coordinate service with Metrobus routes 62 and 64.

90, 92, 93 U Street-Garfield Line
Weekday northbound buses from the Congress Heights Metrorail station on weekdays will leave at 4:43, 4:56, 5:05 and 5:23 a.m. Weekday southbound buses from Duke Ellington Bridge will leave at 5:46, 5:56 and 6:16 a.m.

D8 Hospital Center Line
Weekday bus times will change. Between 3 and 6:30 p.m., every other bus will be shortened to run only between Union Station and the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail station. On weekdays between 3 and 6:30 p.m., buses will run every 17 minutes between the Hospital Center and the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail station and every 8 to 9 minutes between the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail station and Union Station.

G8 Rhode Island Avenue Line
Weekday bus times will change. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., buses will run every 30 minutes. At Farragut Square, buses will run every 15 minutes between 2:50 and 5:50 p.m. Twelve additional buses will leave the Brookland-CUA Metrorail station every 15 minutes between 4 and 7 p.m. going to Avondale.

H1 Brookland-Potomac Park Line
The 8:29 and 8:47 a.m. buses from the Brookland-CUA Metrorail station will be changed to leave at 8:31 and 8:57 a.m.

H2, H3, H4 Crosstown Line
H3 buses will run directly on Michigan Avenue between North Capitol Street and Children’s National Medical Center and will bypass stops at Washington Hospital Center and Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Some H4 morning and afternoon peak hour buses will change to H3 buses. Weekday schedules will change, but H2 and H4 buses will continue to run approximately every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays in both directions to serve the hospitals.

N6 Massachusetts Avenue Line
On Sundays, an additional bus will leave Farragut Square at 6:39 a.m.

U4 Sheriff Road-River Terrace Line
Weekday trip times will be adjusted.

U8 Capitol Heights-Benning Heights Line
Weekday buses will run every 13 minutes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and every 20 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Saturdays, buses will run every 17 to 18 minutes, and on Sundays buses will run every 22 minutes.

X1, X3 Benning Road Line
Trip times will be adjusted to coordinate service with Metrobus routes X2 and 96.
