Web page tells baseball fans how to get to the new ballpark on Metro

With spring training for the Washington Nationals just a few weeks away, the team and Metro want to remind fans that the best way to get to the Nationals new ballpark is by Metrorail and Metrobus.

Metro has developed a special, baseball-specific Web page (http://www.wmata.com/nationals) that can help fans plan their travel to Nationals Park. The page lists Metrorail and Metrobus travel options to get to the games, and provides information on parking at Metrorail stations and an upcoming promotion for commemorative Washington Nationals SmarTrip® cards. Metro will begin selling the limited-quantity cards in March until the supply is sold out. The site also features a Nationals Park-specific Trip Planner page so that fans can map individualized travel itineraries to get them from their homes, work locations or schools to the ballpark in time for the first pitch.

The Web page includes a map that shows fans the quick and easy route from the Navy Yard Metrorail station to the ballpark entrance, and lists Metrobus routes 70, P1, P2, N22, V7, V8 or V9 as other good options to get to the games.

“Fans can avoid traffic and parking woes by taking the Green Line to the Navy Yard Metrorail station or taking one of several Metrobus routes that stop near the ballpark,” said Metro General Manager John Catoe.

The site also counts down the days until Opening Day 2008 and includes a link to the Nationals Web site that has detailed game schedule information.
