Jeff McKay appointed to Metro's Board of Directors

Jeffrey C. McKay was sworn in as the newest member of the Metro Board of Directors today. He is the alternate board member representing Fairfax County.

McKay is the Lee District Supervisor, governing a district of more than 100,000 residents. Prior to his election in November 2007, McKay served as the chief of staff for former Lee District Supervisor Dana Kauffman, who did not seek reelection last November and left the Metro Board in December.

McKay is a sworn Reserve Deputy Sheriff for Fairfax County, member of the Southeast Health Planning Task Force, and former board member of United Communities Ministries and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Committee on Reapportionment.

“I am very pleased to be a member of Metro’s Board of Directors. With five Metrorail stations in Fairfax County, of which two (Franconia-Springfield and Huntington) are in Lee District and one (Van Dorn) is just outside, transit is key to the economic viability and quality of life of our residents,” said McKay.

McKay has a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and is a graduate of the Sorenson Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia.

Catherine Hudgins, an alternate Metro Board member from Fairfax County since 2004, replaces Kauffman as a principal Board member.
