Metro partners with Transportation Security Administration to enhance security during the State of the Union address

Metro riders can expect increased police presence in the Metro system on Monday, Jan. 28, as the Metro Transit Police have partnered with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to heighten security efforts during the State of the Union address.

Metro Transit Police officers will team up with TSA Visual Intermodal Protection and Response (VIPR) teams, which include federal air marshals, to patrol select Metrorail stations throughout the evening.

“Metro has partnered with the TSA in the past to provide extra security during national events, and continues to work with federal and local law enforcement agencies to protect Metro’s 1.2 million daily riders and 10,000 employees,” said Metro Transit Police Chief Mike Daly.
