Metro opens career center for job applicants

Beginning today, it will be easier for people to apply for jobs at Metro. Metro’s new Career Center features online workstations and live professional support.

The new Career Center is located at the lobby level of Metro’s headquarters at 600 Fifth Street, NW. Metro Career Center specialists will be available to help applicants from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Reference materials and how-to aids will also be available.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for those who do not have access to a computer or internet services but do want to join Metro’s great workforce,” said Metro Assistant General Manager of Workforce Services Andrea H. Burnside. “We are happy to offer these resources to make it easier for everyone to apply and find a career at Metro,” she added.

Applicants will be able to build online profiles, attach resumes, view and apply for openings, and browse facts about careers at Metro.

The new online application process streamlines the recruiting experience, allowing applicants to instantly monitor the status of their application. Since August of 2007, more than 14,000 applicant profiles have been built through this online process.
