Weekend Track Maintenance and Rail Car Testing to Affect Metro's Red, Green, Blue and Orange Lines

Track maintenance and rail car testing on the Red, Green, Blue and Orange lines this weekend (February 1-3) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track.

Red Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Friendship Heights and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes of travel time for their trips because of switch maintenance work at the Medical Center Metrorail station. Inbound and outbound trains between these locations will share one track from 9 p.m., Friday, February 1, to closing (midnight) Sunday, February 3. To help expedite rail travel towards downtown Washington, every other Red Line train traveling towards the Shady Grove Metrorail station, will terminate at the Friendship Heights Metrorail station and return to the Glenmont Metrorail station.

Red Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Farragut North and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of platform preparation work at the Metro Center Metrorail station. Inbound and outbound trains between these locations will share one track from 10 p.m. to closing (midnight), Sunday, February 3.

Green Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Columbia Heights and Georgia Avenue Metrorail stations should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of track maintenance. Inbound and outbound trains between these locations will share one track from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, February 3.

Blue and Orange Line Verizon Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Foggy Bottom-GWU and Clarendon Metrorail stations on the Orange Line and the Foggy Bottom-GWU and Arlington Cemetery Metrorail stations on the Blue Line should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because Metro is providing Verizon Wireless track access to conduct normal contractual maintenance and emergency work on its cables. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between these locations from midnight to closing (3 a.m.), Friday, February 1, and Saturday, February 2.
