New Metro audiocast available online

The newest Metro audiocast, dated February 1, is now available to customers on www.metroopensdoors.com and on iTunes. “On Track” offers listeners a summary of Metro-related news for the week, and provides an overview of how planned maintenance work or major events in the region may impact their weekend travel.

The “On Track” audiocast posted today tells listeners about weekend single-tracking for rail car testing and track work that will cause delays of up to 30 minutes on the Red, Blue, Orange and Green lines. It explains the special schedule for Red Line trains traveling between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove.

The audiocast provides information about a new initiative by the Metro Transit Police, spotlight on crime, which aims to raise awareness among Metro riders who travel when it’s still dark outside, and upcoming Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards and Georgetown Hoyas games at the Verizon Center and how to get there via Metrorail or Metrobus. The audiocast also explains Metro’s new career center in the lobby of its headquarters building. Individuals are able to search and apply for jobs at Metro at the career center.

Online users can download the audiocasts from Metro’s Web site and listen on their computers or MP3 devices, such as an iPod or zune. In addition, the Metro audiocast is now available on iTunes. Search the podcast area of the iTune store for “On Track” in the title to find the Metro audiocast. Individuals can also subscribe on iTunes to automatically receive each week’s downloads.
