Weekend Track Maintenance and Rail Car Testing to Affect Metro's Red, Orange, Blue and Green Lines
Track maintenance and rail car testing on the Red, Green, Blue and Orange lines this weekend (February 22-24) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track.
Red Line Track Maintenance
Metrorail customers traveling between the Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes of travel time for their trips because of switch maintenance work at the Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station. Inbound and outbound trains between these locations will share one track from 9 p.m., Friday, February 22, to closing (midnight) Sunday, February 24. To help expedite rail travel, every other Red Line train traveling towards the Shady Grove Metrorail station will terminate at the Farragut North Metrorail station and return to the Glenmont Metrorail station and every other Red Line train traveling towards the Glenmont Metrorail station will terminate at the Friendship Heights Metrorail stations and return to the Shady Grove Metrorail station.
Blue and Orange Line Track Maintenance
Metrorail customers traveling between the Foggy Bottom-GWU and Clarendon Metrorail stations on the Orange Line and between the Foggy Bottom-GWU and Arlington Cemetery Metrorail stations on the Blue Line should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of track maintenance. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between these locations from midnight to closing (3 a.m.), Friday, February 22, and Saturday, February 23.
Green Line Rail Car Testing
Metrorail customers should add 10 to15 minutes of travel time on the Green Line for their trips because of new railcar testing. Inbound and outbound trains operating between the Greenbelt and College Park Metrorail stations will share one track while new trains are tested from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 23.
