Weekend Track Maintenance to Affect Metro's Red, Blue, Orange, Yellow and Green Lines

Track maintenance on the Red, Blue, Orange, Yellow and Green lines this weekend (March 7-9) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track.

Red Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes of travel time for their trips because of switch maintenance work at the Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station. Inbound and outbound trains between these locations will share one track from 9 p.m., Friday, March 7, to closing (midnight) Sunday, March 9. To help expedite rail travel, every other Red Line train traveling towards the Shady Grove Metrorail station will terminate at the Farragut North Metrorail station and return to the Glenmont Metrorail station and every other Red Line train traveling towards the Glenmont Metrorail station will terminate at the Friendship Heights Metrorail stations and return to the Shady Grove Metrorail station.

Yellow and Green Line Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the U Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo and Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metrorail stations on the Yellow and Green lines should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of track maintenance. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between these locations from 7 a.m. to closing (3 a.m.), Saturday, March 8.

Blue Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Franconia Springfield and Van Dorn Street Metrorail stations should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of track maintenance. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between these locations from 8 p.m. to closing (3 a.m.), Saturday, March 8.

Orange Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of track maintenance. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between these locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, March 9.

Green Line Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Anacostia and Congress Heights Metrorail stations should add up to 20 minutes of travel time for their trips because of track maintenance. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between these locations from 10 p.m. to closing (midnight), Sunday, March 9.
