New Metro audiocast available online

The newest Metro audiocast, dated June 6, is now available to customers on www.metroopensdoors.com and on iTunes. “On Track” offers listeners a summary of Metro-related news for the week, and provides an overview of how planned maintenance work or major events in the region may impact their weekend travel.

The “On Track” audiocast posted today tells listeners about weekend track work that will cause significant delays on the Yellow and Green Lines due to the switch replacement project at the Mt Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metrorail station. All Yellow and Green lines will leave the Greenbelt Station every 24 minutes.

The audiocast also includes information about Metrobus route detours due to building construction and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. For a complete list of closings, detours and delays, visit www.metroopensdoors.com, go to the left hand side under Alerts and Advisories and click Service Disruptions to view the full list. In order to accommodate people participating in the Race for the Cure, Metrorail will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on Saturday June 7.

The audiocast also includes details about upcoming public information sessions for MetroAccess door-to-door service on Saturday June 7 and Saturday June 14. There is also information about the Washington Mystics basketball game at Verizon Center, Washington Nationals baseball games at Nationals Park and how to get there via Metrorail or Metrobus. The audiocast concludes with a song from the Kelly Bell Band, which will be playing on Thursday June 12 at Farragut Square Park, Sounds in the Square Thursday concerts.

Online users can download audiocasts from Metro’s Web site and listen on their computers or MP3 devices. The Metro audiocast is available on iTunes. Search the podcast area of the iTune store for “On Track” in the title. Podcasts can be subscribed to on iTunes to automatically receive each week’s downloads.
