Delays on the Orange Line will continue through the evening due to kink in rail

Metro riders can expect 15-minute delays on the Orange Line this evening (June 11) due to a heat “kink” in the rails that was discovered at 3:15 p.m. between the East Falls Church and Ballston-MU Metrorail stations. A heat kink is a bend in the rails due to high temperatures.

Orange Line trains are sharing a single track between East Falls Church and Ballston-MU stations. Passengers should expect delays of 15 minutes until closing this evening as Metro personnel begin to replace the section of track that is out of alignment. They will work throughout the evening to make the necessary repairs.

Metro expects normal service will resume on the Orange Line by 5 a.m. Thursday, June 12.
