Metrobuses rerouted near the newly renamed United Medical Center

Metrobuses will be rerouted because of a new security measure at the United Medical Center (UMC). The gate at the exit roadway to 13th Street will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. The Southern Avenue southbound stop on 13th Street SE at Southern Avenue will not be served. UMC is the new name of the Greater Southeast Community hospital.

Effective Sunday, June 15, Metrobus routes A2, A42, P12, W2, and W3 will be changed as follows between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Routes A2, A42 Northbound, Routes P12, W2, W3 Westbound:

Buses will continue their regular route in front of UMC Medical Center, then turn right at the turn-around circle at the west end of the medical center building, and continue counterclockwise around the circle. The bus will then bear right at the roadway in front of the medical center going east, take a right at the exit road to Southern Avenue, make a right on Southern Avenue and continue their usual route.

Routes A2, A42 Southbound, Route P12 Eastbound:

Buses will continue their regular route in front of UMC Medical Center, turn right at the turn-around circle at the west end of the medical center building, and continue counterclockwise around the circle. The bus will stay right at the roadway in front of the medical center eastbound, turn right at the exit road to Southern Avenue, and then turn left on Southern Avenue to continue its regular route.

Scheduled trip times will not change.
