Metrorail records third highest weekday ridership day 831,464 riders used Metrorail on Tuesday, June 24

Hundreds of thousands of people helped Metro set the transit agency’s third highest ridership day in the history of the 32-year-old rail system on Tuesday, June 24. Riders took 831,464 trips, which were 48,534 more trips than the same comparable day last year. The Washington Nationals and Washington Mystics games contributed to Tuesday’s high numbers.

Since April of this year, Metrorail weekday ridership has cracked the top 13 highest ridership days in Metrorail history on ten separate occasions. Combined with Metrobus ridership, Metro provides more than 1.2 million trips on an average weekday.
