Anacostia elevator to be rehabilitated

Shuttle bus service will be available during 10-week project

The elevator between the platform and mezzanine at the Kiss & Ride entrance at Anacostia Metrorail station will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 2. The elevator is being modernized and the work will take 10 weeks. The elevator is expected to return to service in November.

Riders who normally enter or exit at Anacostia Metrorail station and are unable to use the escalator should call 202-962-1825 for a free shuttle bus to take them to nearby Naylor Road Metrorail station so they can enter/exit the Metrorail system.

An elevator modernization includes replacing a majority of the mechanical parts and elevator cab equipment with new ones to ensure the elevator operates safely and reliably for customers, and extends the life of the elevator.
