New Metro audiocast available online

The newest Metro audiocast, dated August 28, is now available to customers on www.metroopensdoors.com and on iTunes. “On Track” offers listeners a summary of Metro-related news for the week and provides an overview of how planned maintenance work or major events in the region may impact their weekend travel.

The “On Track” audiocast posted today tells listeners about Metrorail track work that will cause delays on the Blue and Yellow lines during Labor Day weekend. There is also information about Metrobus detours and elevator rehabilitations at Anacostia, Potomac Ave and Shaw-Howard U Metrorail stations. For a complete list of closings, detours and delays, visit www.metroopensdoors.com, scroll over “Alerts & advisories” on the left-hand toolbar and select “Service disruptions.”

This week’s audiocast includes information about free events taking place during Labor Day weekend, including the DC Blues Festival on August 30 at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre, National Symphony Orchestra concert on August 31 on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol and Elderfest on September 4 at Freedom Plaza.

The audiocast also tells listeners about free movies they can view at public venues throughout the region and upcoming sporting events such as the Washington Mystics basketball game on August 29, the DC United soccer game on August 30 and the Washington Nationals baseball games August 29 through September 3. It also includes details about this summer’s last free Sounds in the Square concert, which will feature local band No Second Troy on September 4 at Farragut Square Park.

Online users can download audiocasts from Metro’s Web site and listen on their computers or MP3 devices. The Metro audiocast is available on iTunes. Search the podcast area of the iTune store for “On Track” in the title. Podcasts can be subscribed to on iTunes and users automatically receive each week’s downloads.
