Artist sought for public art project at Farragut North Metrorail station
Metro’s Art in Transit program and the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District are seeking an artist to create permanent public art at Farragut North Metrorail station. The art will be located at the station entrance at Connecticut Avenue and K Street, NW.
The project, “Pulse: Golden Triangle, a Neighborhood on the Move,” is part of the “Public Realm and Streetscape Design” program initiated by the Golden Triangle in coordination with D.C. government agencies to revitalize the cityscape of the Connecticut Avenue corridor. The theme for this project is ‘pulse,’ referring to the movement of people, trains, buses and vehicles that create the rhythm of activity at the intersection.
“We encourage all public artists in the region to apply for this extraordinary opportunity to have their work on permanent display at one of Metro’s busiest stations,” said Michael Mc Bride, Metro’s Manager of Public Art.
Preference will be given to artists who live in Washington, D.C., and to those who have experience in the design, development and execution of public art projects.

“This project celebrates the role that Farragut North has played in creating the energy and vitality that defines the Golden Triangle area, while making people’s trip on Metro more pleasant every day,” said Leona Agouridis, Executive Director of the Golden Triangle, which is funding the project along with the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. “The art will also brighten up the street around the station entrance and help mark Connecticut and K as the monumental, vital intersection that it is.”
