Judiciary Square Metrorail station reopened after report of suspicious item

Judiciary Square Metrorail station on the Red Line was closed for about 30 minutes starting at 11:30 a.m. this morning while Metro Transit Police investigated a suspicious item. The item was inside the station at the kiosk near the F Street entrance, but it contained nothing harmful.

Trains continued to travel through the station, but did not stop. No customers were allowed to enter or exit the station until the package was deemed safe at 11:58 a.m.

Metro Transit Police have stepped up security this week, the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
