Metro seeks customer input for service on Metrobus 16th Street Line

Metro and the District Department of Transportation are hosting the second of two public meetings on Tuesday, September 23, about improving bus service along the 16th Street Line in Northwest Washington.

The 16th Street Line, which includes the S1, S2 and S4 routes, has the third highest ridership of any line in the Metrobus system with an average of 16,000 passengers per weekday.

The meeting is part of a study which asks riders for their opinions about bus improvements. The study includes holding public meetings, conducting a rider survey, investigating service options, exploring new types of buses, looking into bus stop designs and locations, researching traffic and reviewing sources of funding. Metro Board Member and D.C. Council member Jim Graham advocated for funding the nearly $259,000 extensive review.

The study also will include recommend actions to make improvements and develop new service and operation plans.

The public is invited to take a hands-on role in crafting solutions to improve the 16th Street Line. The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church, 16th and Newton Streets, NW, Washington. The first meeting on the study was held in July.
