Bus, taxi collide

Taxi passenger dies

A Metrobus and a taxi van collided at about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Virginia Ave. and 19th Street, NW, in the District of Columbia tonight (Friday, September 26). The Metrobus operator, the taxi driver and all four passengers in the taxi van were taken to area hospitals. Unfortunately one passenger in the taxi died as a result of his injuries.

The Metrobus, number 2041, which had no passengers on board, was returning to the Western Bus Division for the evening at the time of the accident. The Metrobus operator has been employed with Metro since March.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
