Red Line riders face delays after man hit by a train


Limited service between Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations

Red Line riders are facing delays this morning after a man was hit by a train at the Shady Grove station.

The train was headed to Glenmont when it hit the man at around 9:50 a.m. About 20 minutes later, rescue crews removed the man, who was alive, from underneath the train and transported him to a local hospital.

There is limited service at Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook Metrorail stations. A train is operating on one track between the stations and Metro has set up a shuttle bus service. Buses also are transporting passengers to the Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook Metrorail stations.

Passengers can expect delays throughout morning as Metro continues to investigate.
