Metro's commemorative Obama Inaugural SmarTrip cards now on sale

Cards available for sale at Metro’s Sales Offices

Metro’s colorful commemorative Barack Obama Inaugural SmarTrip cards are now available for sale at Metro’s sales offices located at Metro Center, the Pentagon and its headquarters building located at 600 5th St., NW.

The new cards feature a smiling President-elect with gold lettering across the face of the cards. They work just like Metro’s standard SmarTrip card. Customers can load value onto the cards to use to pay for their Metrobus or Metrorail fares and to pay for parking fees at Metrorail parking facilities.

The commemorative SmarTrip cards can be purchased for $10 each without fare value, or for $20, which includes $10 fare value loaded onto the card. The cards are available online and will be available after the Inauguration Weekend and are available at select CVS stores.

People planning to use their new SmarTrip cards on Inauguration Weekend can also sign up for special e-alerts, dedicated to the Inauguration, on Metro’s Web site at http://www.wmata.com/inauguration. E-alerts will be issued when Metro has news relating to service for the Inauguration, and, perhaps more importantly, when there may be service disruptions during the course of the four-day Inauguration Weekend.
