Metro publishes commemorative brochure for Inauguration Weekend

Commemorative guide provides maps and travel tips

Metro’s Commemorative Guide to Riding Metro during the Presidential Inauguration Weekend is now available at Metrorail stations, on Metrobuses and for download online at www.wmata.com/inauguration.

The free brochure includes the Metrorail system map, travel tips and a map of downtown Washington, D.C., where many of the inaugural events will take place. The map depicts Metrorail stations, Metrobus routes and DC Circulator routes that stop within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol, National Mall and inaugural parade route.

The commemorative brochure lists 22 Metrobus and DC Circulator routes that serve downtown Washington, D.C., and includes the downtown terminals for each route. It also provides walking directions to the Mall from 10 Metrorail stations, including Dupont Circle, Rosslyn and Navy Yard. Metro recommends that people able to walk two or three miles consider getting to Inaugural events on foot because trains and buses will be extremely crowded.

Metro printed 2 million copies of the guide to ensure widespread distribution. In addition to being available in Metro stations and buses, brochures are being sent to travel agencies across the country, hotels in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware, local government agencies and local Business Improvement Districts.

Information in the brochure, including bus routes, hours of operations and station closures, is subject to change. Updates will be posted on Metro’s Web site at www.wmata.com/inauguration.

Individuals are encouraged to sign up for special e-alerts, dedicated to the Inauguration on Metro’s Web site at www.wmata.com/inauguration. E-alerts will be issued when Metro has news relating to service for the Inauguration, and, perhaps more importantly, when there may be service disruptions during the course of the four-day Inauguration Weekend.
