Public meetings announced for Metrobus Q2/Veirs Mill Line

Transportation agencies seek feedback from riders on service improvements

Metro and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation will host two public meetings in support of the Metrobus Q2/Veirs Mill Line study.

The agencies are relying on feedback from riders to improve service along the transit corridor. The current route runs between the Shady Grove and Silver Spring Metrorail stations along Veirs Mill Road, Georgia Avenue and Hungerford Drive. The Q2 Route averages 10,200 passengers every weekday. It is one of the highest ridership routes in the Metrobus system.

Topics to be discussed at the meetings include factors that impact transit trips, segments of the corridor that need the most improvement, safety and security at stops and onboard buses, travel times and wait times for buses, and the quality of buses, bus stops and drivers.

The first meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, has been canceled due to inclement weather. The remaining meetings will take place as follows:

Thursday, January 29
Rockville United Church
355 Linthicum Street
Rockville, MD 20851

Thursday, February 5
Holiday Park Senior Center
3950 Ferrara Drive
Silver Spring, MD 20906

The meetings will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with an Open House from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and a group exercise from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

The meetings are the second phase of a comprehensive public outreach program. The first phase was a rider survey that was administered in December, which featured the distribution of more than 3,000 surveys to riders on Q2 buses and at selected stops along the corridor.
