New Metro audiocast available online

The newest Metro audiocast, dated March 6, is now available on www.metroopensdoors.com and iTunes. “On Track” offers listeners a summary of Metro-related news for the week and provides an overview of how planned maintenance work or major events in the region may impact their weekend travel.

This edition of “On Track” tells listeners about track work that will cause delays on the Orange Line this weekend. There is also information about ongoing elevator rehabilitations at Ballston and Shaw-Howard U Metrorail stations. To stay up to date on unplanned closings, detours and delays, visit www.metroopensdoors.com and check out the “Metro Service Status” box in the lower left corner of the page.

The audiocast reminds listeners that daylight-saving time begins at 2 a.m. this Sunday, March 8. At that time, all clocks are moved ahead one hour to 3 a.m. and the Metrorail system will close.

There is also information about the Accessibility Advisory Committee (formerly known as the Elderly and Disabled Transportation Advisory Committee) seeking new members. Applications can be found online at http://www.wmata.com/aac, at Metro headquarters, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC, or by calling 202-962-6060. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Monday, March 30.

Online users can download audiocasts from Metro’s Web site and listen on their computers or MP3 devices. The Metro audiocast is available on iTunes.
