Metro opens sales office at Anacostia Metrorail station

Full-service sales facility serves busy Metrobus and Metrorail location

Metro opened a permanent sales facility at the Anacostia Metrorail station on Monday, March 16, where customers may purchase SmarTrip® cards, Senior SmarTrip® cards, student fares, and a variety of Metrorail and Metrobus passes.

The Metro Sales Office at Anacostia will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Anacostia sales office“We’re excited to open Metro’s first sales outlet east of the Anacostia River,” said Metro Board Chairman Jim Graham. “The new sales office will be a great convenience for the growing Anacostia community.”

In addition to serving riders on the Green Line, Anacostia is one of Metro’s busiest bus bay areas with more than 20 Metrobus routes stopping at the station. About 12,000 passengers board Metrobuses and 7,700 get on Metrorail at Anacostia each weekday.

“We view the opening of this sales facility in Anacostia as a demonstration of our commitment to improve customer service and customer conveniences,” said Metro General Manager John Catoe.
The Anacostia sales office replaces a sales facility at the former Southeastern Metrobus Division, which closed last year when the new ballpark opened.

As is the practice at all Metro sales facilities, customers with defective SmarTrip® cards will be given envelopes to mail a defective card to the SmarTrip® Regional Customer Service Center, and those wanting to exchange damaged paper farecards will be limited to one card per day.
