Metrorail to open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-mile Run and 5K Run-Walk


Metrorail to operate six-and eight-car trains for participants heading to the race

Metrorail will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on Sunday, April 5, for the 38th running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk. The race begins at 7:45 a.m., and will start and finish at West Potomac Park. The closest Metrorail stop is the Smithsonian Metrorail station on the Blue and Orange lines.

Starting at 5 a.m., Red Line trains will operate every 12 minutes from the end of each rail and line and Blue, Orange, Yellow and Green Line trains will operate every 15 minutes from the end of each rail line.

The 5 a.m. opening of the Metrorail system is sponsored by the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run, which is covering costs associated with the early opening of the rail system.
