Metro ready for Saturday sports tripleheader


Extra trains for fans after baseball, basketball, soccer games

Metro officials will have extra trains available to get fans home from the baseball, basketball and soccer games being played in Washington, DC, Saturday night, April 4.

Saturday evening will be crowded in the Metrorail system as sports fans head to the Nationals, Wizards and DC United games. The Washington Nationals play at 6:05 p.m., at Nationals Park the Washington Wizards play at 7 p.m., at the Verizon Center, and the DC United play at 7:30 p.m., at RFK Stadium.

After the games, Metro will have a combination of six-car and eight-car trains for patrons traveling from the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metrorail stations on the Red, Yellow and Green lines, from the Navy Yard Metrorail station on the Green Line and from the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station on the Orange and Blue lines.

Fans going to the Wizards game at the Verizon Center are encouraged to use the other Gallery Place-Chinatown Metrorail stations entrances at 9th and G Street, N.W., and 7th and H Street, N.W., or to use the Judiciary Square station at 5th and F Street, N.W., to avoid the crowds expected at the 7th and F Street entrance for the Wizards game.

Fans going to the Nationals game are reminded to use both entrances at the Navy Yard Metrorail station on the Green Line. The station's west entrance at Half and M Street, S.E., is one block from Nationals Park The station's east entrance, is two blocks away at New Jersey Avenue S.E.

Fans going to the DC United game are reminded to use both entrances at the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station on the Blue and Orange Line. The main entrance, closest to RFK Stadium, is located at 19th Street and Independence Avenue, S.E. The second entrance is two blocks away at 19th Street between C and Burke Streets, S.E.

Upon entering the Metrorail system, all fans should purchase enough value on their farecards or SmarTrip®  cards for their round trip.
