New Metro audiocast available online

The newest Metro audiocast, dated May 1, is now available on www.metroopensdoors.com and iTunes. “On Track” offers listeners a summary of Metro-related news for the week and provides an overview of how planned maintenance work or major events in the region may impact weekend travel.

This edition of “On Track” tells listeners about track work that will cause delays on the Red, Blue and Yellow lines this weekend. There is also information about scheduled bus detours. To stay up to date on unplanned closings, detours and delays, visit www.metroopensdoors.com and check out the “Metro Service Status” box or sign up for eAlerts in the lower left corner of the page.

The audiocast tells listeners about Metro’s Board decision to tap a reserve fund and move forward with fewer bus cuts in suburban Maryland and Alexandria to balance Metro’s fiscal 2010 budget.

Information about MetroAccess improvements is included in this week’s audiocast, including revisions to the No-Show/Late Cancellation policy and implementation of EZ-Pay, a new, electronic system that allows customers to prepay for trips by phone or the Internet using a credit or debit card.

There is also information about sporting events, such as the Washington Capitals hockey games on May 2 and 4, DC United soccer games on May 2 and 9, and Washington Nationals baseball games May 1 through 5.

Online users can download audiocasts from Metro’s Web site and listen on their computers or MP3 devices. The Metro audiocast is available on iTunes. Search the podcast area of the iTunes store for “On Track” in the title. Podcasts can be subscribed to on iTunes and users automatically receive each week’s downloads.
