Public meetings announced for Metrobus Q2/Veirs Mill Line

Transportation agencies to discuss recommended service improvements

Metro, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation and Maryland Department of Transportation will host two public meetings to discuss recommended service improvements along the Metrobus Q2/Veirs Mill Line.

The current route runs between the Shady Grove and Silver Spring Metrorail stations along Veirs Mill Road, Georgia Avenue and Hungerford Drive. The Q2 route averages 10,200 passengers each weekday. It is one of the highest ridership routes in the Metrobus system.

The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 10, at the First Baptist Church of Wheaton, 10914 Georgia Ave., Wheaton, MD 20902.

The second meeting will take place on Thursday, June 11, at Montgomery College, Campus Center, Faculty Dining Hall, 51 Mannakee St., Rockville, MD 20850.

The meetings will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with an Open House at 6:30 p.m., presentation at 7 p.m. and group exercise at 7:20 p.m.

The meetings are the part of a comprehensive public outreach program. The first phase was a rider survey that was administered in December, which featured the distribution of more than 3,000 surveys to riders on Q2 buses and at selected stops along the corridor. Two sets of public meetings were conducted in January and March. For more information about the study, visit www.metrobus-Q2.com.
