New Metro audiocast available online

The newest Metro audiocast, dated May 29, is now available on www.metroopensdoors.com and iTunes. “On Track” offers listeners a summary of Metro-related news for the week and provides an overview of how planned maintenance work or major events in the region may impact weekend travel.

This edition of “On Track” tells listeners about track work that will cause delays on the Orange Line this weekend. There is also information about three scheduled bus detours. To stay up to date on unplanned closings, detours and delays, visit www.metroopensdoors.com and check out the “Metro Service Status” box or sign up for eAlerts in the lower left corner of the page.

The audiocast tells listeners about public meetings on June 10 and 11 to discuss recommended service improvements along the Metrobus Q2/Veirs Mill Line. There is also information about Metro’s plans to re-launch the Next Bus system on July 1. Metrobus customers will be able to get real-time bus arrival information on Metro’s Web site, by telephone or from electronic signs installed at select Metrobus stops.

Details about Walking Town DC’s free walking tours this weekend in the District of Columbia are included in this week’s audiocast. There is also information about the 2009 Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival and upcoming sporting events, such as the Washington Mystics basketball game on June 7, DC United soccer game on June 4, and Washington Nationals baseball games June 2 through 7.

Online users can download audiocasts from Metro’s Web site and listen on their computers or MP3 devices. The Metro audiocast is available on iTunes. Search the podcast area of the iTunes store for “On Track” in the title. Podcasts can be subscribed to on iTunes and users automatically receive each week’s downloads.
