Track maintenance to affect Metro's Red and Orange lines this weekend

Red and Orange Line customers should add 20 to 30 minutes of travel time this weekend

Track maintenance on the Red and Orange Line this weekend (June 5-7) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track, and customers should add an additional 20 to 30 minutes of travel time to their trips.

Red Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the New York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood Metrorail stations should add 20 minutes of travel time because of switch replacement work through the Brentwood rail yard near Union Station. A switch is an intersection in the track, where trains can “switch” from one track to another, depending on their destination and route. Trains will share one track between these locations from 10 p.m., Friday, June 5, to closing (midnight), on Sunday, June 7.

Orange Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Stadium-Armory and Cheverly Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes of travel time for their trips due to bridge maintenance on the aerial structure outside the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. Trains will share one track between these locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7.
