Construction starting on new Grosvenor parking garage300 existing parking spaces at Grosvenor will be closed; Additional parking to be located just north of the station

This weekend, Montgomery County will begin construction of a new $25 million parking garage at the Grosvenor Metrorail station on the Red Line. The six-level garage will provide more than 1,200 additional parking spaces. Metro is working with Montgomery County to minimize disruptions to customers during the construction, which will extend through fall 2003.

During construction, 300 existing parking spaces at the station will be closed. As a result, additional monthly parking will be available at a lot located at Rockville Pike/MD 355 and Montrose Road, just north of the White Flint Metrorail station. Daily rate parking will not be available in this lot. Monthly permits will be issued for parking on a first-come, first-served basis. A special Metrobus will provide free shuttle service from this lot to the White Flint station during weekday peak hours (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.). Daily parking is available first-come, first-served in the White Flint station park-and-ride lots. Regular Ride-On bus service is available all other hours at the standard fare.

To park in the Rockville Pike and Montrose Road lot, customers are encouraged to call the Montgomery County Parking Operations Permit sales office at (240) 777-8744 and complete an application for a $45 monthly permit. Applications are also available at the Montgomery County Department of Public Works and Transportation’s Web site at www.DPWT.com/parking.
