Seven Metrobus routes to be rerouted near Pentagon to ease traffic congestion on Pentagon roadways

As a result of traffic congestion on the Pentagon area roadways, Metrobus routes 9A, 9E (the Richmond Highway Line), 13B, 13F, and 13G (the National Airport-Pentagon-Washington Line), and 24 M and 24P (the Ballston-Pentagon Line) will be rerouted in Arlington as they enter the Pentagon Transit Center starting on Monday, April 7.The opening of northbound Eads Street in Arlington will carry these bus routes onto the northbound roadway of Eads Street until the effect on the I-395/HOV ramp traffic flows can be further reviewed. The revised routes will save one to two minutes per trip compared to current routing; however, schedules will not be adjusted and additional trips will not be rerouted via northbound Eads Street until it is determined that traffic on the new routes flow with a reduced amount of congestion at the HOV ramps and South Rotary Road. Bus stops on Eads Street, and Army-Navy Drive will be adjusted as needed to serve customers destined to points in Pentagon City.Starting on Monday, April 7, the northbound Richmond Highway Line (9A and 9E) and the National Airport-Pentagon-Washington Line (13B, 13F, and 13G) from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport only will operate their present routes until they arrive at the intersection of Army-Navy Drive at which point they will cross Army-Navy Drive and continue northbound on Eads Street under I-395 to the Pentagon Transit Center. The National Airport-Pentagon-Washington Line headed in a counter clockwise direction from southbound VA Route 110 will operate its present route until the buses arrive at the intersection of Army-Navy Drive and Eads Street after coming off the ramp from southbound VA Route 110. At that point, the buses will turn right onto Eads Street and continue under I-395 to the Pentagon Transit Center. The Ballson-Pentagon Line will operate its present route to the intersection of Army-Navy Drive and Fern Street, then continue along Army-Navy Drive, turn left onto Eads Street and continue under I-395 to the Pentagon Transit Center.
