The 26th Annual Metrobus Roadeo on April 26 yielded Robert Miles as the first place winner, the 15th time in the 26-history of the roadeo that the Bowie, Maryland, resident has placed first. He works at the Landover Bus Division in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Mr. Miles demonstrated his excellent driving skill in one of several events by approaching an obstruction " an orange cone " the closest without knocking it over. " Mr. Miles" precision driving skills catapulted him to the top once more," noted Steve Petruccelli, coordinator of the annual bus roadeo. " A few years ago at the International Bus Roadeo sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association, he came within one point of the first place winner! He returned with the second place silver trophy, an exemplary accomplishment. He has also placed third on two occasions at the international competition." The first place mechanics team consists of Leonard Makowski of Beltsville, Maryland; John Epps of Germantown, Maryland; and Michael Harris of Laurel, Maryland. The mechanics all work at the Montgomery Bus Division in Montgomery County, Maryland. In addition to showcasing their driving skills, the mechanics had to search for planted defects on buses. The team which located the greatest number of defects in the shortest period of time won the planted defects event. The winners will participate in the International Bus Roadeo from September 24 to 29, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
