Metro’s Virginia Square-GMU station entrance will close at normal time this week

Canopy installation that was scheduled for this week is tentatively scheduled for this weekend

The Virginia Square-GMU Metrorail station will close at its regular time, midnight, on June 10th to June 12th, due to a construction delay of the canopy above the station entrance. The Virginia Square-GMU station entrance on the Orange Line was originally scheduled to close early at 10 p.m. while personnel constructed the permanent structure frame for the canopy to be installed over the station entrance. However, a minor delay in the fabrication and finishing process of the stainless steel frame has shifted the installation to the weekend of June 14th and June 15th. Additional information will be forthcoming on weekend service plans for the Virginia Square-GMU station. Metro apologizes for any inconvenience and asks its customers to listen for further updates on the canopy installation project.
