Metrobus service route changes in Virginia begin the week of June 29


Schedule adjustments designed to improve service

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on seven lines in Virginia starting the week of June 29. These changes are in response to customer requests and will eliminate overcrowding on some routes, shorten passenger waits between trips on others, and improve transfer connections between buses and trains. They are listed below.Washington Boulevard Line, Routes 2B and 2G. Weekday morning and afternoon peak trip times between Fair Oaks Mall and Jermantown Road at the AT&T Building (east of Chain Bridge Road) will be adjusted by up to nine minutes to reflect current traffic conditions and improve schedule adherence. Customers should consult the new schedule for revised trip times and transfer connections.Lee Highway Line, Route 3A. Weekday midday trip times between Annandale (Patriot and Americana Drives) and East Falls Church station will be adjusted by two to four minutes to reflect current traffic conditions and improve schedule adherence. Customers should consult the new schedule for revised trip times and transfer connections.Pimmit Hills Line, Route 3T. On the Saturday holiday schedule operated on Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Presidents Day, service via the Colshire Drive loop will be adjusted so that eastbound trips to the West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail station will operate via the loop at 6:45, 7:45, and 8:45 a.m. only, and westbound trips to Tysons-Westpark Transit Station will operate via the loop at 3:50, 4:50, 5:50, and 6:50 p.m. only. All other trips on these holidays will bypass the Colshire Drive loop and serve the stops on Dolley Madison Boulevard (Route 123) at Colshire Drive/Scotts Crossing Road.Lincolnia-North Fairlington Line, Route 7W. To provide better spacing between trips, the weekday northbound trips leaving Lincolnia Road and Quantrell Avenue at 6:39 and 6:41 a.m. will be adjusted to leave at 6:36 and 6:44 a.m.Hunting Towers-Potomac Yard-Crystal City Line, Route 11P. Weekday morning and afternoon peak service will be reduced from every 24 minutes to every 36 minutes due to low ridership. Weekday midday and evening service, which currently operates every 36 minutes, will not change. Customers should consult the new schedule for revised morning and afternoon peak trip times and transfer connections.Mount Vernon Express Line, Route 11Y. Weekday trip times will be adjusted to reflect current traffic conditions in downtown DC and crossing the 14th Street Bridge. Morning northbound trip times leaving Mount Vernon and passing through Alexandria will not change, but trips will arrive at Farragut Square (19th and H Streets, NW) three to eight minutes later than currently scheduled. Afternoon southbound trip times leaving Farragut Square (18th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW) will not change, but trip times passing through Alexandria and points south will be adjusted three to four minutes later than currently scheduled.Chain Bridge Road Line, Route 15K. Running time on the westbound trip leaving Rosslyn station at 6:40 a.m. will be adjusted so that this trip will pass stops between Dolley Madison Boulevard (Route 123) and Colshire Drive, Tysons Corner Center, and George Mason University four minutes earlier than currently scheduled.
