Code Red "Bad Air Alert" designated for Wednesday, June 25


Free Rides Tomorrow on Some Metrobus Routes

Tomorrow, June 25, has been designated a Code Red "Bad Air Alert" Day by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG). COG has issued a Code Red "Bad Air Alert" for Wednesday when air quality is expected to be unhealthy in the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas.Free fares will be in effect on designated Metrobus routes in Maryland and Virginia. Some of the routes operate between those two jurisdictions and the District of Columbia. Customers can identify Code Red "Bad Air Alert" Day buses by the Code Red bag placed over the bus’ farebox. If customers see this bag, their bus ride is free.The cost of Code Red "Bad Air Alert" free ride days in Virginia and Maryland is paid for by those jurisdictions.
