Metrobus service route changes in the District of Columbia begin in early September


Schedule adjustments designed to improve service

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on five lines in the District of Columbia starting in early September. They are listed below.

Mount Pleasant Line, Route 42. On May 25, the Metro Center terminal stand was relocated from 11th and F Streets, NW, to 9th and G Streets, NW due to construction at the old Woodward & Lothrop building. Starting Sept. 7, trip times will be adjusted by one minute to reflect this change. Southbound trips will be scheduled to arrive at 9th and G Streets one minute earlier and northbound trips will leave 9th and G Streets one minute earlier than the previous times at 11th and F Streets. This change will begin the week of September 7.

South Capitol Street Line, Route A9. The last two northbound trips, scheduled to leave Livingston at 9:25 and 9:55 a.m. will be discontinued due to low ridership. Alternative service is available on Route A8 to Anacostia Metrorail station. The frequency of southbound service will be adjusted to better reflect current passenger demand. Southbound trips will leave 7th and E Streets, SW (L’Enfant Plaza) at 3:13, 3:43, 4:06, 4:26, 4:46, 5:06, 5:26, 5:50, 6:18, and 6:48 p.m. This change will begin the week of September 7.

Deal Junior High School Line, Route D32. The routing will be changed in the Mount Pleasant area. Westbound trips will be extended to begin at the Columbia Heights Metrorail station on the south side of Irving Street, NW, west of 14th Street, and proceed via Irving Street, right onto 14th Street, right onto Columbia Road, right onto Little Harvard Street (roadway on the west side of the park at 16th Street and Columbia Road), right onto Harvard Street (on the north side of the park), left onto Mount Pleasant Street to Lamont Street and continue regular route. Trips will be scheduled to leave the Columbia Heights Metrorail station at 7:58 and 8:03 a.m. and arrive at Deal Junior High School at 8:20 and 8:25 a.m. This change will begin the week of September 2.

Eastbound trips will follow the regular route to the intersection of Mount Pleasant and Irving Streets, NW, then turn left onto Irving Street and continue to the new terminal stand at Columbia Heights Metrorail station on the south side of Irving Street, NW, west of 14th Street. Two trips will be scheduled to leave Deal Junior High School at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at Columbia Heights Metrorail station at 3:50 p.m.

Fairfax Village - L’Enfant Plaza Line, Route V5. The frequency of service will be adjusted to better reflect current passenger demand. The span of service will be extended later in the afternoon rush period in response to customer requests. Northbound trips will be scheduled to leave 38th Street, SE, and Alabama Avenue (Fairfax Village) at 6:14, 6:29, 6:41, 6:54, 7:04, 7:14, 7:24, 7:34, 7:44, 7:55, 8:10, and 8:30 a.m. Southbound trips will be scheduled to leave 7th and E Streets, SW (L’Enfant Plaza) at 3:54, 4:14, 4:32, 4:50, 5:08, 5:26, 5:44, 6:02, 6:20, and 6:56 p.m. This change will begin the week of September 7.

Wilson High School Line, Route W47. The routing will be changed in the Mount Pleasant area. Eastbound trips will follow the regular route to the intersection of Mount Pleasant and Irving Streets, NW, then turn left onto Irving Street and continue to the new terminal stand at the Columbia Heights Metrorail station on the south side of Irving Street, NW, west of 14th Street. One trip will be scheduled to leave Wilson High School at 3:25 p.m. and arrive at Columbia Heights at 3:46 p.m This change will begin the week of September 2.
