Bus service route changes for GEORGE in City of Falls Church begin the Week of Sept. 7


Schedule adjustments designed to improve service

Several service changes on GEORGE, the bus service for the City of Falls Church, will be implemented starting the week of September 7. These changes are at the request of the City of Falls Church in response to customer complaints concerning bus traffic on certain residential streets and schedule adherence. They are listed below.East Falls Church Shuttle, Routes 26A and 26E. Route 26A (weekday off-peak, Saturday and Sunday): The route will be revised as follows. The bus will leave East Falls Church station and continue along its current route to the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street, then turn right onto Oak Street, left onto Park Avenue, left onto North Washington Street, right onto the roadway toward eastbound Washington Boulevard, continue along Washington Boulevard, right onto Sycamore Street to the East Falls Church Metrorail station.Weekday off-peak trips between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and between 7:50 and 10 p.m. will be adjusted to operate every 45 minutes instead of every 40 minutes. Trips will leave East Falls Church Metrorail station at 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:15 p.m. After the afternoon rush, it will leave at 7:50 p.m., 8:35 p.m., and 9:20 p.m. The Friday night trip leaving East Falls Church Metrorail station at 10 p.m. will leave at 10:01 p.m. Running times on most trips will be adjusted to reflect the revised route and actual traffic conditions.Saturday and Sunday trip times leaving East Falls Church Metrorail station will not change, but running times on most trips will be adjusted to reflect the revised route and actual traffic conditions.Route 26E (weekday morning and afternoon peak): The route will be revised to leave East Falls Church Metrorail station and continue its current route to the intersection of Virginia and Park Avenues, then turn right onto Park Avenue, left onto North Washington Street, right onto the roadway toward eastbound Washington Boulevard, continue along Washington Boulevard, turn right onto Sycamore Street to the East Falls Church Metrorail station. Trip times leaving East Falls Church will not change, but running times on most trips will be adjusted to reflect the revised route and actual traffic conditions.West Falls Church Shuttle, Route 26W/Weekday morning and afternoon peak. The loop via George Mason Junior/Senior High School will be discontinued. Students may use the stop on westbound Haycock Road, north of Leesburg Pike, to board and alight Route 26W trips.In the morning, trip times leaving the West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail station will not change. In the afternoon, trips will be adjusted to operate every 30 minutes instead of the present 25-minute frequency. Trips will leave the Metrorail station at 4:30, 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30, 7, and 7:30 p.m. Running times on all 26W trips will be adjusted to reflect the revised route and actual traffic conditions.
