Metrobus routes to be detoured tomorrow November 1as a result of Former Mayor Washington’s funeral

Due to the funeral services and the related motorcade for the former Mayor of the District of Columbia, Walter E. Washington, several Metrobus routes will be detoured on Saturday, November 1. Metrobus customers using these lines are advised to plan for a longer bus trip as a result of the detours.As a result of the motorcade, Metrobus service will be impacted across the city, especially routes traveling north and south across the motorcade path. Some Metrobuses may have to pause at intersections for the procession to clear. Some routes may be affected and may terminate at the closest Metrorail station. If this occurs, Metrobus operators will issue a special bus transfer to affected customers that will be accepted on Metrorail. This special bus transfer arrangement will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The following Metrobus routes affected by the funeral tomorrow are as follows:13A, 32, 34, 35, 36, 42, 52, 54, 66, 70, 80, 90, 92, 96, 98, B2, D2, D4, D6, G8, H2, H4, L2, M6, N6, P6S2, S4, V8 and X2.Funeral services for the former Mayor are scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at the National Cathedral, and are expected to last until 1 p.m. The service will be followed by a motorcade to the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery located at 4001 Suitland Road, in Suitland, MD. The motorcade route will wind through the city passing by Howard University, Mr. Washington’s former home on T Street, N.W., the City Museum and the John A. Wilson Building.
