Metrorail to stay open two hours late on Thursday night to accommodate University of Maryland football game

The Metrorail system will stay open two hours later than usual this Thursday night, Nov. 13, closing at 2 a.m. on Friday morning to accommodate the University of Maryland’s 7:45 p.m. home game against the University of Virginia at Byrd Stadium at the University of Maryland’s main campus in College Park. The nationally televised game is the last home game of the season for the Terps and it will compete with evening academic classes in terms of parking on and near the campus. Rush-hour traffic around the campus is expected to be heavier than usual. Terrapins fans are encouraged to take Metrorail to and from the game. The nearest station is College Park-Univ. of Maryland Metrorail station on the Green Line. Fans are encouraged to purchase a round-trip fare card when they enter the Metrorail system so that when they are ready to head back home, they do not have to wait in line to purchase a fare card.
