Metro announces track work scheduled for this weekend

As part of its ongoing program to improve customer service and continue the repair and rehabilitation of the 27-year-old Metrorail system, Metro will conduct two separate rehabilitation projects this weekend on the Red, Blue, and Yellow lines. During this work period, customers" trips may take longer than usual on the affected lines. Please note the following track work scheduled for this weekend:

" Red Line - between Union Station and Rhode Island Avenue. This work will start on Friday, November 21, at 10 p.m., and continue through Sunday, November 23, at midnight.

" Yellow/Blue Line - between Braddock Road and Pentagon City. This work will occur from 10 p.m. to closing (3 a.m.) on Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22. To perform this work, Metro must single-track trains " operate trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.

On the Red Line between Union Station and Rhode Island Avenue, Metro personnel will perform routine track maintenance. On this segment, customers may experience a delay of five to ten minutes and should allow more time for their trip.

On the Blue and Yellow Line, trains from Braddock Road to the Pentagon City Metrorail station will share the same track while construction crews continue installing extended canopies over the platform at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport station. On this segment, customers may experience a delay of up to 10 minutes and, therefore, should allow more time for their trip because of this necessary work.
