Red commuter bus tickets invalid on Metrobus after December

Red commuter tickets will no longer be accepted for full or partial fare on Metrobuses beginning January 1, 2004. The tickets will be invalid after December 31, 2003. Unused ticket books may be exchanged for other fare products of equal or greater value at the following Metro sales offices now through March 15, 2004. A complete book of 24 tickets will be valued at $12 when exchanged. Metro sales offices accepting the exchanges include the Metro Center Sales Office at 12th and F Streets, NW, open weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Pentagon Transit Center on the upper level of the bus concourse, open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and Metro Headquarters at 600 Fifth Street, NW, open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The change is a result of Metro Board action that was taken earlier this year when the Board voted to alter the Metrobus fare structure as of July 2003. At that time, the Metro Board agreed to allow the use of the red commuter tickets through the end of this calendar year.
